Random thoughts of a make up obsessed blogger

As i was cleaning off my make up tonight i started thinking about how much a REALLY am OBSESSED with make up. Its almost crazy, while the make up was coming off my face i was thinking about how i was going to wear it tomorrow..if i was going to change my foundation routine, if i should toss colors i never use.

I thought about it so much that i actually almost put make up back on just to see how it would look if i tried some new colors together.

Crazy i know...but my love of make up runs DEEP, im not exactly sure when it started but i know this is a love affair that will last a life time. Lipstick, eye shadow, lip liner and blush. Foundation, concealer, powder *sigh* i love it so much!! (You see what i did there? It was like a little jingle)

Anywho, i do have some words of wisdom for all my make up lovers out there, there is a point where it all needs to stop...or at least a point where you should cut back on buying. 

I have seen far to many of my fellow make up obsessed friends knee deep (no really) in unopened eye shadow boxes or foundation....or even worse having so many products that you dont know what to use so you just go with the same thing everyday.

My advice is:

-Before you go shopping, look over what you already have. If you have to much of something (foundation) ask yourself. "Do i really need more"? "How often will i use it?" "Am i willing to throw out the old to make room for the new?"

-Make a list of what you NEED (eye shadow colors, primer, ect) before you leave and try to stick to that and only that.

-To save money, search for dupes (less expensive make up lines that make almost identical copy's of the higher end brands) like NYX has a lot of dupes that match M.A.C

and last but not least.....

if you not already addicted....DONT get addicted...it can really empty your pockets lol

The end of an era

DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD!

As im sure you all know the Lakers have fallen from their perch and no one out there is happier than i am =)

I do have to be honest though, this playoff season i didnt watch any of their games....like none lol

BUT thats because i have a theory...the past few years that i have watched the lakers games religiously waiting for them to lose.....they never did. After thinking about it for a while i figured they were winning because i was watching.

So i took it upon myself this year to test my theory, i didnt watch any games and BAM they lost!....sooooo all of you can thank me for the lakers losing, im sure if i would have watched even one game they would have won....and you know....that would be terrible. Instead of you having a happy blogger i would have been PISSED and this post would have been completely different.

The most AMAZING thing about the whole lakers losing is the way they went out......IN A SWEEP!

I couldnt be happier.

If you look at if for what it really is, for the past 3 years the playoffs and championships have been ran by the lakers and the celtics and for the first time in what can seem like forever for any NBA fan.....there is change in the air.

*Takes a deep breath*

It smells so sweet!

Being fly on a budget

I know far to well that everyone doest have a Kim Kardashian budget and that everybody may not have someone in their life that they can look up to for style inspiration.

SO

I put together this quick outfit of the day video for you ladies to help you along the way and show three things

1) Price has nothing to do with style, you can find the most amazing things on the sale rack or in a thrift store
2) Inspiration can come from anywhere
3) If it dont fit, alter that shit!!

All of the pieces im wearing in this video came from the sale rack or the salvation army
-The off the shoulder sweater (which i cut myself) was 2.45 from the salvation army
-The Gap Jean Jacket (i cut the sleeves off) was 3.00 from the salvation army
-The skinny jeans were on sale at target for about 9.00
-The Chinese laundry shoes were from Marshalls and were on sale for about 25.00

The inspiration for this outfit came from watching uglyfaceofbeauty on youtube. I love her style =)

I hope this helps you ladies expand the list of stores you'll shop at and your ideas of style.

"You wont be on our shit"

Thats what Champion sports apparel is saying to Steeler's running back Rashard Mendenhall.

But why??

Apparently Champion has kicked Mendenhall from representing their clothing line due to.....get this ....TWITTER!

Thats right TWITTER. Mendenhall has been let go as one of Champions spokesman because a few days ago he tweeted about bin laden, how people were celebrating and that maybe..JUST MAYBE the government was lying about some things. But you know....thats crazy who would ever think such things *side eye* Anywho after seeing that...they kicked him the the curb


Today Champion released a statement to USA Today saying:

Champion is a strong supporter of the government's efforts to fight terrorism and is very appreciative of the dedication and commitment of the U.S. Armed Forces. Earlier this week, Rashard Mendenhall(notes), who endorses Champion products, expressed personal comments and opinions regarding Osama bin Laden and the September 11 terrorist attacks that were inconsistent with the values of the Champion brand and with which we strongly disagreed. In light of these comments, Champion was obliged to conduct a business assessment to determine whether Mr. Mendenhall could continue to effectively communicate on behalf of and represent Champion with consumers. While we respect Mr. Mendenhall's right to express sincere thoughts regarding potentially controversial topics, we no longer believe that Mr. Mendenhall can appropriately represent Champion and we have notified Mr. Mendenhall that we are ending our business relationship. Champion has appreciated its association with Mr. Mendenhall during his early professional football career and found him to be a dedicated and conscientious young athlete. We sincerely wish him all the best.

ok so i  can look at this two ways....

1) The last time i checked people have the freedom of speech and can say whatever the hell they want and all Mendenhall did was exercise that right. *throws fist in the air* more power to you my chocolate brother FIGHT THE POWER! Lol

2) But....what people fail to realize is there is a consequence to anything you say...especially if your in the public eye...and hold a contract as some companies spokesperson. If what you say does not go along with popular opinion, the companies brand or....fucks with their image..you best believe you will be out of there QUICK and if your a sports star there are PLENTY who can replace you. Mendenhall should have been thinking.

*shrugs* looks like Mr. Mendenhall will be pulling a Beyonce and going to the left to the left lol.

So as Champion does image clean up, Mendenhall calculates hes new yearly income without this endorsement and we yawn at this topic by tomorrow...because lets be honest on a scale of one to ten this is a two unless you saw the tweet first hand no one will care by lunch time .

My Pin up Journey- Be bold

Lately i have been VERY into the whole pin up girl look and for the past few days i have been trying out different variations of the look that could work as one of my signature styles.

But things were lacking a little, i was never bold enough to go all the way. Mostly i was afraid of the red lip. Now maybe its because red is such a bold color and contrary to popular belief im not that bold. Or it could have been because i have very pronounced facial features (large eyes, a big nose and full lips) and i felt like putting bright red lipstick on my face would just be over kill. I dont know...whatever it was i was SCARED.

Until today, i woke up in a good mood and decided today would be the day that i would finally crack open that Revlon "Red Velvet" Color Stay Lipstick....and ladies it was the BEST choice i could have ever made. I got so many compliments on my look it was amazing and i felt beautiful!

So if any of you ladies out there want to try something new....my fashion tip of the day is: Be bold and take chances, if you want to try something just do it!

Below are pictures and descriptions of my 3 day pin up journey, i hope your inspired =)


Day 1: Pin up in training

On day one i was a little nervous about the whole look...i wanted to play it safe

-My hair is pin curled and held up with bobby pins
-I have a black bandanna tied around my head separating the back of my hair and my bangs
-I have feather earrings to add a sweet feel to the look
-My make up consisted of very light neutrals
-I wore a white see through button up a white cami, black shorts and black wedges (full outfit look to come)


Day 2: Rocker pin up

With the success of day one i figured i would kick it up a notch on day two and bring the pin up girl into the modern day
-I let my down from the pin curls and it came out full and bouncy so i was very happy
-The black bandanna is again a STAPLE in this look so i threw it on again to hold my hair back
-You cant see much of my jewelry here but its all very rockerish cross earrings, cross rings and bulky necklaces
-My eye make up consisted of shades of pink going from light to dark on my eyes and winged eye liner
-I wore a pink button up shirt tucked into a high waisted stripe shirt and threw on a cut off jean jacket to add edge and paired the look with army boots (not shown)

Day 3: Shes a pin up girl

FINALLY A RED LIP!

-I brushed my hair out a bit so the curls would not be as defined

-The bandanna again had to make an appearance

-My eye make up is non existent i just have a winged eye liner and a very faint coral color on the base of my lid

-The only jewelery i put on was earrings and they are stud pearls with a gold trim

-I finally put on the red lipstick =)

-I wore a black long sleeve tee shirt with a grey hoodie over it and the same jean jacket from the day before, regular jeans and black flats

-I wore the glasses as an accessory but took them off mid day 

Heating it up

Two games in and the Miami Heat are trying to make a statement.

With back to back wins under their belt it seems at though the Heat are on the fast track to knocking the Celtics out of the playoffs...but could it really be that simple?

I cant imagine the Celtics getting sweeped or going out without a fight. Honestly i don't even think that team know the definition of "broom".

Looking at the whole situation I cant say that Miami is just getting lucky because they do have the skills to make this happen but with both games scores ending with the teams only a few points from each other its clear that given a little more time those games could have went either way.

Now if there was a blow out involved i may have been prone to say that Miami has this down.

But as basketball fans we all know the playoffs breed comebacks.

More than anything Msairmaxnheels will be keeping their eye on this match up.

Maaaaaaan Fuck the playoffs

....Im just saying

Look there is no secret that Msairmaxnheels is #TEAMORLANDOMAGIC and yes i am a tad bitter that they got knocked out by the Hawks...i mean lets be honest, most people forget the hawks are even a team. (I know i do) BUT i know that theres nothing to worry about because the Bulls will give them the business.

Although i feel like there may be an upset in this semi final round (yes im saying the Bulls may be knocked out by the Hawks trust me, i didnt want to say it but im sayin it)

Anywho moving on.

The fact that the Heat made it to the semi finals is NOT a shocker....i mean come on they shelled out enough cash to make the super team they had better of made it to some part of the playoffs.

Will they beat the Celtics? For the love of god i hope so (but thats only because i hate the Celtics)

But let me stop being petty and  look at this skill wise. Miami has the heart and the skill to go all the way but so do the Celtics thats why they are both in the playoffs. The difference between the Celtics and the Heat is that above all else the Celtics are finishers which cant be said about all NBA teams. So for right now though i would LOVE for Miami to take out Boston out. Im going to give this win to Boston.

As for the west coast semi finals i almost feel as though there is no reason to even speak on it. We all know at the end of the day none of this really matters the Lakers will make it to the finals. *shrugs*.......eh but give me a few days...maybe ill speak on it.

Long of the short......as of right now...FUCK THE PLAYOFFS

Easy healthy eating on a budget

Alot of people that want to begin eating healthy often times dont know where to start and complain about the price of healthy and orgainc food.

But healthy eating can be easy and inexpensive, all you have to do is start small and build up from there. Theres no need to run out and buy protein shakes and vegan burgers in your first week of eating healthy....or your second week for that matter.

Taking food you already like and then making a few simple product substitutes can jump start any diet or healthy living kick.

Below we have put together a fast five minute meal for those who are just starting to get in shape, need a lean meal to go with their work out routine or are just hungry for some good food =)

Shrimp Cesar Salad:

What you will need:
-Dole cesar salad kit (or any other packaged cesar salad brand)
-Pre cooked shrimp from your supermarket (seasoned or un seasoned)
-Salad plate
Total cost: 6 bucks for about 2 to 3 salads

What to do:

1) Take out your salad plate (we are using a salad plate not because of the name but because of the portion size it holds) and put about two hand fulls of lettuce from the kit onto it.

-We are only using two hand fulls because most kits hold three serving sizes, this is where people get into trouble they dump all of the salad out of the bag onto the plate and wind up eating 3 servings in one sitting. Two hand fulls should be enough for a middle of the day meal or a "snack" before bed.

2) Heat your shrimp up in the microwave for 45 seconds just to get it warm (remember its already cooked)

3) Add about five shrimp to the salad.

-The reason we are using shrimp and not chicken is because shrimp has less calories and is leaner than chicken and when you start a diet if you dont plan to work off a whole bunch of calories there is no need to eat a whole bunch in one sitting. BUT REMEMBER to eat the daily recommended amount of calories. I just feel its nice to be able to eat more meals than just one. To put it in perspective you could eat this meal three times and still be eating less calories than a mean from Mcdonalds.

4) Cover the salad with a light layer of croutons, Parmesan cheese and Cesar salad dressing.

-You can even add some grapes too if you want to spice it up a bit =)

5) Enjoy =)

This is the year of the rabbit

Maybe its because my favorite Jordans are VI's and VII's ...maybe its because the special edition box will be released state side....or maybe its just because this shoe is DOPE.

Whatever it is the Air Jordan VII Retro "Year of the Rabbit" has me more excited about its release then any shoe has had me in a while. Hitting select retailers like Rock Paper Scissors in Seattle, Washington on May 7th 2011 ill be doing everything i can to get my hands on these and that damn box.

Annual Baltimore Sneaker Show

On Saturday April 23 the second installment of the Annual Baltimore Sneaker Show which was created and hosted by Dino (@dino410 ), a local sneaker guru and Baltimore native took place at The Vanguard Art Society and was .

The ABSS was originally created to be a platform for sneaker fanatics in the DMV to display their shoe collection and compete in a “best collection contest”. This year gaining the support of local and national names such as DTLR (Downtown locker room), F.U.N.K Clothing (owned by Baltimore native Le'Roy Evans) and NIKE the ABSS blossomed from its humble beginnings into an all out fashion and hip hop event.

Selling out in ticket sales twice, exclusive shoes on display, and housing an impromptu cypher of Baltimore artist this years ABSS was a once in a life time event.

When Le'Roy Evans owner of F.U.N.K Clothing was asked to sum up the sneaker show, he replied with one word “…….EPIC”

And there you have it, the ABSS is bringing positivity and shine to the area and is quickly becoming a staple in the Baltimore Fashion community. If you missed it you’ll just have to wait till next year but here are some clips to hold you over.

Lashes are a girls bestfriend!

But Ladies beware!!! A Full set often has you looking as if there are mini fans on your face…and trust us when we say that that is NOT the look your want to go for. If we had a penny for every over done set of lashes we have seen…well lets just say we would have no reason to blog anymore.

When deciding to sport fake lashes take this hint and CUT THEM IN HALF before you apply and only add them to the OUTTER EDGE of your eyes. Then add mascara to fluff up the look. The outcome will be flirty, sexy lashes and not two mini fans nesting on top of your eyes.
